John Thomas Jones

SKIDAWAY ISLAND, GEORGIA - John Thomas Jones, passed away on Friday, September 14, 2012.

Born in Bonne Terre, Missouri, John made a loving impact on all who knew or met him, from his family and close friends to a stranger in line at the grocery. His very successful career with Monsanto Company took him and his family from St. Louis to California and Connecticut and back to St. Louis. John and his wife, Connie retired to the Landings in 1994 where they made many wonderful life-long friends. For the past eighteen years his favorite times included Friday nights at the clubs with his wife and best friends, golfing with the regulars and travels to see grand kids. He will be remembered for his great sense of humor, his loyalty to friends and his unwavering love and adoration of his family.

John is survived by his wife, Connie Jones and children, John Jones, Jr. of Sterling, Virginia and Cathy Knudsen of Leawood, Kansas married to Eric Knudsen; his five grandchildren, Haley, Tate and Mac Knudsen and Alex and Samantha Jones; his brother, James Irvin Jones and sister, Celeste Fraser.

His death is preceded by his parents Elmer and Celeste Jones and brother, Stanley Jones.

A memorial service will be held Tuesday, September 18, 2012 at 3:00 p.m. at Skidaway Island Methodist Church.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Skidaway Island Methodist church or to the American Cancer Society.

GUEST BOOK

John taught us to have fun at work. The office environment was always positive and no matter the business stress we would hear John laughing. John was my mentor during the mid seventies and that association kept us in touch for the past 40 years.

Connie, our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family during this time of bereavement. John was such a sweet, kind and caring soul; and all his golf buddies will surely miss his presence.

The 'Jones Family' was like our 'Camelot' of Bonne Terre. Most people lived a simple life in our town, but we had the 'Jones' family that had the big home on the hill surrounded by a white fence. They also hada housekeeper, grounds keeper and a private pool. They were wonderful people and contributed greatly to our town. John Jones was just one of us, although his father was the person that drove our very economy. We were a 'company town', but everyone felt a part of it. Just seeing this brought back many memories of growing up in our wonderful town and we will always remember the 'Jones' family that helped make Bonne Terre a wonderful place to grow up. May John Jones rest in peace! Jim Mills

- Jim Mills, St. Louis, MO

Dear Connie You and John were the second people we met on our street. Went to a Monday party at your house before we even moved in. We are so glad that we had the chance to know you before you moved to Oakrideg because it gave us 8 years of friendship with you and your wonderful husband. He'll be missed by many but not easily forgotten. Love Joni and JIm
